This second project was quite easy because I had to do the exact same assignment for my sophomore year in high school. For this project, I had to document the foods I ate and the calorie intake for the course of 7 days, create a 'menu' for one day that will include healthy, low-calorie meal options, what I learned from this project, and 3 Nutrition goals that I will set for myself which will be easy to reach. I learned more about what kinds of food I ate and how it affects my diet. I was really surprised about the amount of calories I put in my body daily because I rarely look at the calories on the packages. Since we had to track the amount of calories consumed in one week, I noticed tremendously. I was not aware of the amount of calories that were in the foods I eat daily. It is surprising of how much calories are packed into one small item. It really changed my judgement about what I should snack on and what I should eat during lunch and dinner. Not only did I notice how many calories were in the foods I ate, but I also noticed how much sugars and fats were in there as well. The only negative feedback about this assignment is that sometimes I don’t know the kinds of food I ate because my parents make it at home and I don’t know the name of them. This calorie count doesn’t have a specific amount due to homemade foods. My overall experience was okay because I got to see how much food I ate in one day. It was annoying to remember all the foods I ate and then having to search it on the website. I should have downloaded the MyFitnessPal app so that I could scan the barcodes, instead of having to type it in all the time. I learned of the scanning after I was done tracking my calories for the seven days. This assignment was fun to do for a week, but honestly, I would not do it again. It was nice to see how much I was eating for the week, but I would just forget about it the following week or the following month after that.
